National Theatre: Jack Absolute Flies Again

We will be showing Jack Absolute Flies Again live from the Olivier Theatre on Thursday 23rd July at 7.00pm.

A riotous new comedy.  From the writer of One Man, Two Guvnors comes a hilarious new play, set in 1940s British summertime.

After an aerial dog fight, Pilot Officer Jack Absolute flies home to rejoin his fearless young Hurricane squadron at RAF Fontwell. Once back on British soil, Jack is shocked to find his old flame, Lydia, on the base. He sets his sights on winning her heart, but with turbulence and hilarity never far away, his advances quickly turn to anarchy.

Thea Sharrock (Me Before You) directs a cast including Caroline Quentin and Richard Fleeshman in this joyous farce.

When Peter Pan, leader of the Lost Boys, loses his shadow, headstrong Wendy helps him to reattach it. In return, she is invited to Neverland, where Tinker Bell the fairy, Tiger Lily and the vengeful Captain Hook await. A riot of magic, music and make-believe ensues.

A delight for children and adults alike, Sally Cookson (NT Live: Jane Eyre) directs this wondrously inventive production, a co-production with Bristol Old Vic theatre.

The story has been told before, but never like this. An occupied desert nation. A radical from the wilderness on hunger strike. A girl whose mysterious dance will change the course of the world.

This charged retelling turns the infamous biblical tale on its head, placing the girl we call Salomé at the centre of a revolution.

Sadly we have to postpone the encore showing of J M Barrie’s Peter Pan on Tuesday 13th June due to a faulty BluRay disc. We will reschedule this event to mid June, date will be announced as soon as possible.
