Winter Special: double bill & meal – The Third Man & Bridge Of Spies
Our first film is the classic The Third Man where Pulp novelist Holly Martins travels to shadowy, post-war Vienna, only to find himself investigating the mysterious death of an old friend, Harry Lime. Martins, too curious for his own good, hears contradictory stories about the circumstances of Lime’s death and as witnesses disappear he finds himself chased by unknown assailants. Will Martin’s curiosity lead him to discover things about his old friend that he’d rather not know? Script by Graham Greene and starring OrsonWells, Joseph Cotton and Trevor Howard.
After our meal we will show Bridge Of Spies. During the Cold War, insurance lawyer James B. Donovan is assigned by the Bar association to defend the Soviet spy Rudolf Abel. Donovan is partly successful and Rudolf is sentenced to life imprisonment instead of death penalty. When U-2 spy pilot Francis Gary Powers is shot down over Soviet territory and taken prisoner the CIA summons Donovan to help in the negotiation to exchange the two spies. Starring Tom Hanks and Mark Rylance.
Details of the meal and booking information will be announced nearer the time.
