Hex – CANCELLED

Sadly this broadcast has been cancelled. Below is an extract from the official NTLive announcement.

It is with much regret that National Theatre Live will be cancelling the cinema release of Hex originally planned for 17 March 2022.

This is in response to extensive Covid disruption affecting our performing companies at the National Theatre, which has resulted in the cancellation of performances of Hex across the Christmas period. Due to these cancellations, the production will sadly not be ready in time to be recorded during its current run.

This performance will be filmed live at the Olivier Theatre during the show’s run in December and January.

A vividly original retelling of Sleeping Beauty, a mythic, big-hearted new musical that goes beyond the waking kiss.

Deep in the wood, a lonely fairy longs for someone to bless. When she is summoned to the palace to help the princess sleep, her dream turns into a nightmare and her blessing becomes a curse. Soon, she is plunged into a frantic, hundred-year quest to somehow make everything right.

Rufus Norris directs the world premiere of this contemporary twist on Sleeping Beauty, featuring brand new music by Jim Fortune and lyrics by Rufus Norris.

There is more information about the production at the National Theatre website and you can watch a video of composer Jim Fortune introducing the show here

Doors open 30 minutes before the performance commences.

Please arrive in plenty of time to register and, if you wish, order interval drinks.
