Tideswell Cinema has grown from a small film club in 2005 to become one of the most popular community arts venues in the Peak District.
Offering rural audiences the chance to see the UK’s top live theatre, ballet and opera productions on their doorstep, we are still a not-for-profit organisation run entirely by volunteers.
After fund-raising for special equipment we began broadcasting live screenings from the National Theatre in 2012 – the first community cinema in the country to do so.
We quickly added regular live broadcasts from the Royal Shakespeare Company and Royal Opera House, together with one-off productions from other premier UK theatres.
In addition, Tideswell cinema-goers enjoy monthly screenings of award-winning films, including sub-titled foreign language films, classics, recent releases, an “Oscars” night and double-bill with meal events.
Tideswell Cinema is based in the Tideswell Community Hall which has comfortable seating, underfloor heating and is fully accessible including wheelchair access, with the toilets also on the same level as the hall.
Although we won’t be providing refreshments at this time you are welcome to bring your own drinks and cups/glasses.
We do have a limited Membership list which includes priority booking and free admittance to films, but all are welcome at every event.
Just ask to be put on the mailing list at mail@tideswellcinema.com or sign up here by entering your details in the sidebar to the left.

We are grateful to Derbyshire County Council and Tideswell & District Community Association whose financial support helped us buy equipment to launch the live events programme in 2012.
