We will be showing the world premiere of The Cellist by Cathy Marston along with Dances At A Gathering by Jerome Robbins live from The Royal Opera Ballet at the Royal Opera House on Tuesday 25th February at 7.15pm
Cathy Marston has previously been an Associate Artist of the Royal Opera House and Director of Bern Ballett, and is much in demand internationally. The inspiration for her first work for The Royal Ballet Main Stage is the momentous life and career of the cellist Jacqueline du Pré.
Jerome Robbins’ elegant and elegiac classic forms the second part of the programme. This exercise in pure dance for five couples, set to music by Chopin, is a masterpiece of subtlety and invention.
The scheduled premiere and live relay of Liam Scarlett’s new work has sadly been postponed to a later date in a subsequent season.
Doors open 30 minutes before the performance commences. Please arrive in plenty of time to register and, if you wish, order interval drinks.
