Glyndebourne: Hamlet

We will be showing Hamlet live from the Glyndebourne Festival on Thursday 6th July at 6.00pm.

To be, or not to be. This is Hamlet’s dilemma, and the essence of Shakespeare’s most famous and arguably greatest work, given new life in operatic form in this original Glyndebourne commission. Composed by Brett Dean, one of the most important composers of our time, and with a libretto by Matthew Jocelyn, Hamlet receives its world premiere during Glyndebourne 2017.

‘The themes of life and death, love and betrayal have opera written all over them.’ — Brett Dean, Composer

The title role will be sung by Allan Clayton, who previously captivated Glyndebourne audiences in Albert Herring and The Rape of Lucretia.

Doors open 30 minutes before the performance commences. Please arrive in plenty of time to register and, if you wish, order interval drinks.
