The Winter’s Tale – Royal Opera House

winter's taleWe will be showing The Winter’s Tale live from the Royal Opera House, London at 7.30pm, Monday 28th April 2014.

The Winter’s Tale is the world premiere of a new ballet by Artistic Associate Christopher Wheeldon and is based on Shakespeare’s enduring story of love, loss and reconciliation. Following Wheeldon’s charming production, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and a series of short ballets including Aeternum and Polyphonia, his new full-length work at Covent Garden draws on another much-loved work of English literature: Shakespeare’s late, great romance, The Winter’s Tale.

The story follows the destruction of a marriage through consuming jealousy, the abandonment of a child and a seemingly hopeless love. Yet, through remorse and regret – and after a statue miraculously comes to life – the ending is one of forgiveness and reconciliation. Wheeldon continues his highly successful collaboration with designer Bob Crowley and composer Joby Talbot, the team behind Alice, in one of the highlights of The Royal Ballet Season.

Please arrive by 7.00pm to register and to order interval drinks if you wish.

The George Hotel serves meals – please contact them directly on 01298 871382 if you would like to book a pre-show meal.
