We are now taking bookings for the 2019 Season Opener Double Bill and Meal on Saturday 7th September at 3.45pm.
Two brilliant films with stunning lead performances kick off our new season. Both are based on true stories of journalists working for the Washington Post in the 1970s.
First is the 2017 film The Post. Starring Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks as the country’s first female newspaper publisher and her hard driven editor.
When they discover evidence of US government duplicity over the facts
surrounding the Vietnam War they must decide whether to back down for
the safety of the Post, or publish and fight for the freedom of the
press.
After our meal we will show All The President’s Men, winner in 1977 of Best Film category in the Academy, Golden Globe and BAFTA awards.
Starring Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman as Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, it tells how they uncovered details of the Watergate scandal that led to the resignation of President Richard Nixon. Described as ‘the most devastating detective story of the century’.
Unlike our regular film presentations, booking is essential for Double Bill & Meal events.
The films are free to Tideswell Cinema members and £5 (for both) to guest members.
The meal costs £10, and all payment will be taken on the door.
However, it is important to book and choose your menu in advance as places are limited and food has to be pre-ordered.
